A definite possibility; no doubt that they had to lend some legitimacy to usurping an election with the apparent loser. Of course they had their lunatic fanatic media to help sell the grab of power... the media would just keep bleating that Hildy had actually won the election and that DJT had cheated in order to overturn her win. That ploy would have signaled the end of the Constitution.
This, found late last night at QResearch, appeals to me. The basic idea is that Trump already has complete control of the big social media companies (due to TREASON) and has ordered them to censor, so that the public will rise up against them in time for the 2020 elections. (He's already got Scott Adams on his side.)
