You know who I believe has good instincts that would help Trumps' agenda?
Cory Lewandowski.
Trump should have never let him go but he could correct that mistake and bring him back. Trump gave up Lewandowski for Manafort:
In April 2016, Lewandowski's influence within the Trump campaign was reported to be waning. On June 20, 2016, Trump's campaign announced that it was parting ways with Lewandowski; according to reports, Lewandowski was fired, although Donald Trump Jr., Trump's son, described the split as "amicable." The move occurred after Lewandowski clashed with Trump chief strategist and campaign chairman Paul Manafort in an internal "power struggle." After Lewandowski's departure, Manafort (who had been brought on the campaign in March 2016) became the de facto campaign manager.
I think to some extent, it’s a case of “Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer”. Trump had to play ball with the establishment for a while, while he consolidated his power. Remember, the Senate that had to confirm his cabinet in early 2017 was RINO dominated. Not as much now, in spite of Romney.
Or could it be that these guys are political animals, just like everyone else, and tell their prospective boss everything he wants to hear. Then, when they get the corner office, try to do things their way, in complete contradiction to what they said they were going to do.
I think Wray is probably one of the better examples of that.
Also, knowing that he has to deal with the scum in Congress, he has to pick folks that have a better chance of getting approved. I’d love to see him find some old school police chief to run the FBI. Some No-BS guy that legitimately rose through the ranks, although those types are more like dinosaurs now. Someone like that would shake up the FBI in the first week. But that same person would probably have a helluva time getting through the confirmation process. The dem’s would be pulling his internal affairs file to ask why he bodyslammed someone 40yrs ago, when he was a rookie.
Trump could fix the problem with Wray immediately. Call him to the Oval Office and tell him it is time to rip the bandaid off of whatever crap occurred in the FBI during Spygate. Wray is doing more damage to the bureau by covering this stuff up and obstructing oversight - it will come out anyways.
Tell him it is the only way to restore trust in the FBI (that is true for half the country) and that he, Trump, will not pillory the rank and file for what their leadership did.
If Wray does not wish to do this, he can resign and be replaced by someone who will provide a full accounting of whatever occurred. This conversation should happen soon after the OIG report and declassification of the origin documents.
Screw the politics Mr. President - promises made, promises kept. Drain the swamp was your promise and it is past time to get started. You cannot make a deal with these people because they have a visceral hatred for you and making any kind of agreement to cover corruption for the sake of politics is not right.
I concur and you are dead on in your assessment. It also took time to smoke these vermin out.

-Tillerson meets privately with House and Senate leadership.
-Brennan meets privately with DemonRat leadership.
I smell more than one rat.
The GCC has been around since Reagan was President...
If Wray has to be told, then he has already demonstrated that he is the wrong man for the job.
Manafort garnered the delegates needed to win primary against Cruz and others who were trying to steal them from Trump. I concur that Corey is more principled than Manafort. However I am not sure if Corey matches Manafort in people skills. Trump secured nomination with Manafort at helm. That is what counts.
