Rep. Jackie Speier, D-Calif., has defended women having the right to choose and attacked government officials trying to force decisions on women, detailing her own experience with having an abortion in the process.
"The government has no right in my uterus, has no right in my vagina, and its time for us to be very clear and straightforward about that," she told CNN's Alisyn Camerota.
Speier's appearance came after she tweeted about her own abortion on Thursday. "It was the best choice for my health & my family. While it was an immensely hard decision, I don't regret it," she said.
Speier, speaking to Camerota, described her abortion as "a painful process" and said that the fetus wouldn't have survived outside of the womb.
It was a second-trimester abortion, the fetus had dropped through the cervix and into the vagina, she said. She expressed frustration over the allegedly cavalier way that her male colleagues discussed the issue, suggesting that women had abortions "without any thought."

That's not what Sandra Fluke was saying a few years ago.
According to Fluke, government was required to give her birth control.
Obama wanted to mandate that Christian groups pay for birth control.
So which is it, huh?

Will she tell that to God on judgment day?
the Govt may not have a right to her uterus, but a new growing life sure does.
If the Mars rover found a clump of growing cells, CNN would report life on Mars, but find a clump of growing cells in a woman’s uterus, well that is just a choice.
they won’t be happy until they make abortions retroactive. Of course they will exempt themselves though
I just saw an interview with some protester who said this was about “the rights of women and people who have uteruses.” And? Is the conservative side even slightly aware of the level of weirdness it is up against?
Then may I suggest finding a reliable method of birth control (one would think your ugly, miserable face would do the trick). Another great idea is to not open your precious vagina if your life cant accomodate a pregnancy. On that note do not open your legs to a man who you would never have a child with.
You don’t have the right to kill, in the bogus name of your ‘reproductive rights’. You have a right to choose who, when, and where you have sex with anyone, and to refuse to have sex - at any time, without question. THAT is the control you have over your reproduction.
Once you’ve made a choice to have sex, particularly unprotected sex, your ‘rights’ are limited - just like the rights of the male who impregnated you are limited. Late term abortion is murder, and you don’t get to commit murder with impunity just because you happen to have two X chromosomes. Quit being irresponsible and it won’t be an issue.
Well then I guess government will have no business requiring doctors to kill your babies, nor will the government have any business buying your birth control pills/devices.
The state governments are not concerned about her uterus but of the contents of the human being inside of it that includes DNA from the father.
The father’s DNA segments make it undeniably clear that the fetus is not 100% mom’s.
A fetal heartbeat makes it clear that the fetus is alive and is not a mere lump of flesh.
A fetus will in a large percentage of cases have a male bit protruding.
Government has the right to prevent a person from murdering another person. Government also has no right to regulate how many children you have. Government has no right to regulate marriage however.
yet demands that you disarm from protecting 'your own child!
It seems that the congresswoman aborted a part of her brain.
Abortion is not a protected constitutional right, like my right to carry a firearm is.
Shed be one of the first liberal Rats to violate my Second Amendment Rights.
To paraphrase her statement. The government has no right telling me if I can carry a firearm or how many I can possess.
Sacrifices have to be made, Mister! To Moloch, that is.
You’re correct, the government has no right in your uterus, but does have the right to protect life, liberty and happiness for the person in your uterus.
There is no such thing as an abortion unless a child is present.Keep government out of your uterus, then don’t try to kill the person that’s in it!
“The government has no right in my uterus, has no right in my vagina, and its time for us to be very clear and straightforward about that.”
Does the government (or anyone else for that matter) really assert a right or desire to be “in” her uterus or vagina?
And they have no right in my wallet to pay for your abortions.
Hmmmm, doesn’t tax revenue used to fund abortions come from a certain branch of the government? So, by definition, the government IS in her uterus.
If abortion were guns, they’d be demanding government fund arming people.
