A 16-year-old Guatemala migrant who died Monday in U.S. custody had been held by immigration authorities for six days twice as long as federal law generally permits then transferred him to another holding facility even after he was diagnosed with the flu.

Uh would that be his parents?
His parents and his sponsors
Along with activists like this guy.
Get ready for a fine week of liberal outrage over this.
How about holding those who shanghaied him out of his home country responsible for the long journey, dangerous conditions and exposure to disease etc.?
A 16 year old is a child? I think not.
Easy and obvious solution: Don’t come here.
CW-II is so inevitable.
Nope it’s ALWAYS the US’s fault, doncha know.../s
Charge any adults that brought the child in the US with felony child abuse.
“If these were white children that were dying at this rate, people would be up in arms,” he said. “We see this callous disregard for brown, Spanish-speaking children.”
Millions of white cilldren are not invading Guatemala
“5th migrant child dies after detention by US border agents”
Words mean things. Should have read...
5th migrant child dies while in detention by US border agents.
“after detention” suggests that somehow the detention was responsible or had something to do with his death. Actually it was the flu (they say).
Was he sick when they left home? Taking a sick child on a dangerous arduous journey is never a good idea.
Did he get sick on the journey or was he just infecting everyone else?
All that is missing from this propaganda story is the photo of a dead child in a cage.
Sue “Peloser/the loser” and all liberals. They invited these illegals to break OUR LAWS.
First. Parents? What parents? The disappeared long ago.
Second, big deal. He died. He was sick when he broke into the country and got better care than he could ever get where he came from. Damned lawyer is of course using us against us just like they always do. It isn’t civil rights of course, it is invasion rights.
Maybe they should not take a kid on a trek of some 2000 miles.
He was an illegal 15 in Santa Cruz, CA:
At the beach he fan across his 8 y.o. neighbor, coaxing the trusting blond child to come home with him. He murdered her and discarded her body in a dumpster. The cops asked him why he did it:
“I wanted to know what the reaction of the community would be.”
Now, if convicted they are saying this illegal MONSTER will get out at age 23:

Remember the guy who killed Katie Steinle and was put in jail only for a GUN CHARGE...?
Sorry, I forgot:
He used ice cream to tempt her to his house, and he stabbed her in her 8-year-old neck.
And he raped her.
And when he threw her away in the dumpster she was still alive and died from positional asphyxiation.
Yep - claims he was trying to reunite with his parents who are already here...how did he get left behind? And how many healthy 16 year-olds die from the Flu? Some of the story is being sat on.
Solution: catch, send back to home country the same day. Send home country a bill for transportation. No problem of 6 days incarceration, no problem if they are sick (except for others on the plane, sorry) all fixed.
The damn liberals are trying to force us to let them go in this country immediately, hell, don’t even bother to catch them in the first place. Nobody in the country wants this except the demoncrats. Vote them out!
Exactly.
It’s extraordinarily unusual for healthy kids or teenagers to die from the flu. Either there are pre-existing, underlying conditions, or the conditions and lack of care they are exposed to during that long trek is what actually kills them.
I’m guessing it’s the latter.
I also don’t believe that they can go all the way from Central America through Mexico to our southern border without passing a single hospital, medical clinic, or other facility where they can get care. Even just stopping and resting for a few days and making sure that the child is adequately hydrated would probably ensure their recovery.
Waiting until they get here and then expecting our Border Patrol to recognize and treat severe illness just isn’t working, and it isn’t our fault.
