I have a record of Jesse McReynolds playing the Grateful Dead. He originated his namesake cross-picking style for mandolin. I could never master it.
I don’t think anymone really ‘mastered’ the cross picking style on the mandolin as Jesse M did, though some have come close. Duffy, used to put on banjo picks and played a roll on mandolin.
