I was USAF also. My last year in was spent in Key West, FL, on the ADMIRAL’S staff of U.S. Forces Caribbean. USFC in 1987 was located at the Key West Naval Base, Truman Annex. My first room mate, a sailor, disappeared one day after going to the clinic to be tested for HIV. When I returned from my 12-hour night shift, he and all his things were gone.

Apologies to the navy - I worked with many Navy folks over a 39 year span and found them to be some of the finest professionals on the planet.
