Yeah; let’s. That PC crap killed the space program and many other areas where the U.S. used to excel. I can’t say what DH saw in his career, but it was pretty awful.
Well, I know it wasn’t my daughter who engineered it. She doesn’t do bridges.
There was a very long thread on it on FR on March 18/2018
It was, and until that thing collapsed they couldn’t scream louder about how it was designed by a woman.
Do you know the sex of the person running that company?
FYI, it’s a chick.
And I don’t want my bridge, my airplane, my skyscraper, etc. designed by a dumba$$, regardless of sex and/or gender any more than I want a dumb@$$ doing my surgery.
Affirmative action is killing gender equality. How many young women are screwed out of MIT, etc because of their lack of melanin.
How do we know, by looking at a class of engineers, that those who appear to be men, are not actually women, or desire to be women, or have not yet started the chemical and medical procedures to become women?
Why should we assume their gender, simply by looks?
Transphobic article!
Wasn’t that over the road bridge etc that collapsed in Florida designed and built by females ???
Not only are you correct, but it was a cable-stayed bridge. The woman in charge was quoted as saying that the cables were "only for aesthetics".
I haven't heard much about that bridge in the news, but I think that statement alone increased their liability enormously.
Math is hard. Differential equations did me in. I could not get it. I have a degree in engineering. I got A’s in Calculus 1 & 2. I also did not get statistics. However, statics and mechanics came easy and natural to me.
Lowering the standards to get more of any race, creed sex is asking for more episodes of Engineering Disasters on the Science Channel.
Why don’t we lower the standards for brain surgeons and let them operate on the idiots who come up with these ideas.
How come we never hear about the lack of men in nursing schools or other professions dominated by women?
Already have killed us. Too late.
Sick of this crap.
Do you really like male-only workplaces? I found that women add interesting dynamics; and, all I worked with were as good as the men at their jobs.
Believe me, a qualified woman engineer would have companies falling all over themselves to hire her.
Double if the said woman is “of color”.
It does not matter if a woman is an engineer--it matters if a woman is an engineer because she is a woman and not because she passed the required classes.
I used to work with one of the incompetent ones. She had to make an aluminum template for something and didn’t know how to convert a tape measure to decimal. The non-engineer in the group did it for her. (me)
Then, she was supposed to drill holes in the 1/4? aluminum and was complaining that she needed a new bit because she worked for 1/2 hour on one hole. I grabbed the drill and flipped the switch to “forward” and sent her on her merry way.
When my son started engineering school, he had a good grasp of tools and fabrication from several years on a robotics team. Two summers working for a home remodeler while he was in school also helped.
