Does anybody know why Country House was not entered?

Thanks for posting. Fourth favorite 7-1 (he was right in my wheelhouse betting template...I would have made about 19-25 bucks)...I would have had him but didn’t stick around long enough at the local track today to bet the Preakness. Oh well...you win some...you lose more...and some you don’t stick around to bet.

Redemption my butt. Maximum Security would have won again.

It’s funny. They have reviewed the Derby and determined, after the fact, that Maximum Security should not have been disqualified. Or so the article I read the other day claimed.

In the 1970s, a rider-less horse finished first in a race I saw in person at Calder in Fort Lauderdale.

I assume the horse was disqualified, but I actually can't remember how the rules applied to that situation.

The same day, I bet $5 on a female jockey to win. Female jockeys were really rare in those days, and, adjusted for inflation, that would be a $25 bet in 2019.

She won, and paid off at 90-1, or $2,250 in 2019 dollars.

I was with my three closest college friends. I paid for dinner, wine, and every bar tab that night, tipped like a drunken sailor, and still had enough money left to do it all over again the next night.

Those are really pleasant memories when you start to get old.
