When a student at a New Hampshire high school put items on his tray that he didn't have the money for, lunchroom employee Bonnie Kimball didn't think it was a big deal.
She told the student to make sure to pay the next day. She wasn't worried as she had known the boy's parents since they were children, and had no doubt that the $8 lunch tab would soon be taken care of. And the next morning, she told CNN, that's exactly what happened.
About a week later though, she was fired by the district manager of Café Services, the food services company that employed her.
"'Do you understand what you did was wrong? That was theft,'" Kimball says she was told.
A photo of her termination letter provided to CNN shows that the company accused her of violating its procedures as well as federal and school policies. The letter was dated April 9 and said Kimball was fired on April 4.
"On March 28, a District Manager was on-site and witnessed a student coming through the line with multiple food items that you did not charge him for. This in strict violation of our Cash Handling Procedures, the Schools Charge Policy and Federal Regulation governing free meals," the letter reads. "Your final has been processed and disbursed to you."

In retrospect, she should have let the kid go hungry or called the cops on the villain for attempted theft. Those are the only acceptable options to the authorities.
Bigger question:
Why the heck is there a “Federal Regulation governing free meals,”. How far we’ve fallen. This should not even be a state issue, but rather a local school board decision.
Eight bones is ridiculous! I remember lunch cost less than a half a buck. Loved the fish sandwiches on Friday for two bits! Always had two, just like the ones at McD’s... Otherwise, I brown-bagged in 2 salami sandwiches mon-thurs.
Well, of course they are fine Christians. Rigid adherence to The Law is the cornerstone of Christianity, doubly so when we are talking about money. Without that $8, our whole society would have descended into anarchy within days, with renegade biker gangs using the last drops of fuel to battle over the last few cans of tuna fish. Thank God for the rigid adherence to The Law of good Christian folk. Yes, sarcasm again.
What’s the difference between what she did and what democrats want to do ie take OTHER PEOPLE’S Property and money, and give to to folks who don’t pay?
I get the feeling you’re not a fan of Ayn Rand.
The result of a secular, bureaucratic society that replaces horizontal social relationships with vertical (hierarchical).
Something like this...
“Mommy, why is it raining?”
“It rains when Jesus is angry, honey.”
“Why is Jesus angry, mommy?”
“It’s probably something you did.”
I have an idea? Why don’t people bring their own damn lunches?
It’s a school, not a restaurant.
Its not a gang. Its a club. And quit eavesdropping on our meetings.
Your reading comprehension is somewhat lacking.
The kid PAID IN FULL, AS AGREED the next day.
Oh, that doesn’t matter because reasons, right? Rules are rules! Humanity is an abstract construct of the bleeding hearts!
Seig Heil!
Why cannot the parents provide this meal? Why must a government entity exist to provide it? And who is really paying for both? Sorry, wrong question.
> Whats the difference between what she did and what democrats want to do ie take OTHER PEOPLES Property and money, and give to to folks who dont pay?
1) Genuine compassion for the suffering of another human being.
2) $8 one-time vs 50%+ of all your income in perpetuity
3) The $8 wasn’t sent to Planned Parenthood to murder babies or spent on hormones for some transgender freak
... I’m pretty sure I can come up with quite a large list of ways they are different, if I cared to continue to list things
Actually, I am. Atlas Shrugged is one of my favorite books, despite the wretched John Galt speech. I liked The Fountainhead, just not as much. She captured the Left so very perfectly. I’ve often said that all I want is the demographics and immigration policies of Galt’s Gulch; those being what made it functional.
Hey, I just want in. I have my own shoulder pads AND crossbow already. If it’s on jet skis like in Waterworld, though, I’m out. That movie was really bad.
Good to know. Thanks.
Its nothing like Waterworld. That was nothing. Stick with me, Kid. Itll be fun!
Nailed it.
what the hell are you talking about? My comment was about her getting fired- likely by a liberal school- for doing what liberals claim they want to do- Redistribute other people’s belongings or money- that’s all- of course it matters that the kid paid it back- that’s not what i was commenting on- so calm down— Talk about reading comprehension- cripes!
please see my post above- you too have misconstrued my post- I find it funny that the very people that advocate taking other people’s money from them get bent out of shape when a woman gives something to someone who couldn’t afford the meal at the time- that’s all-
