We made that mistake a few years ago
Squirrels were raiding our bird feeders
I thought that setting up a Squirrel feeder
would fix the problem - bad idea
Last summer I accidentally make a squirrel death trap. I was having water problems in the basement so buried a perforated trash can with a sump pump next to the wall outside. Kids took the lid off. a week later I went to check out the pump and there were 5 dead squirrels in there. I suspect they were leaning in to drink water, slipped, couldn’t get out.
