The Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) made the costs more concrete: the program would cost $316,010 to $419,101 per household. According to the Census Bureau, the average household income in 2017 was $61,372. In ten years, the average household will make $613,720. That means the Green New Deal would cost 51.5-68.3 percent of the average family's budget. Imagine living off of less than half of what you do now.
