I think it’s a shame that it took “The Pacific” to learn the story of Sgt. John Basilone.

He should have been a household name, like Audie Murphy IMHO.

We were thoroughly drilled in Corps history and John Basilone while in boot camp. Main north road in Camp Pendleton is named after him.

He was a household name in some places.
