Did anybody see the most recent episode of the ‘documentary’ series 1969, on ABC? I started watching it and this one is labelled ‘The Girl in the Car’.

What about the Miracle Mets?

Being a Dodger fan, I didn't care much for the Mets, which, incidentally, I find to be an odd name for a sports team (sounds like a city in France).

The year 1969 wasn't a good one for Los Angeles sports fans. On New Years Day, the USC Trojans lost to the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Rose Bowl. In basketball, the Lakers lost the championship to the Boston Celtics. The Dodgers rebounded from their disappointing seasons in 1967 and 1968 only to fall out of contention for the pennant by losing four straight to the San Diego Padres, playing their first season, in late summer.

In football, the Rams won nine straight only to choke in the playoffs. The hapless Occidental College Tigers, who gave up seven touchdowns to the Whittier College Poets in the first quarter (the final score was 56-8) lost most of their games but did manage to beat the Cal Tech Beavers 45-21 in the historic Tournament Park in Pasadena, original site of the annual New Years Day game that became the Rose Bowl. Only the USC Trojans, with their spectacular victories over Stanford and UCLA gave Southland sports fans something to blow on by winning yet another Rose Bowl berth

The first Rose Bowl game that I attended was the one in 1974. You probably liked the results of that one as well. I have been to a total of 15 Rose Bowl games.

Chappaquidick was great.

I really bought the actor who played Ted.

He did such a good job, that when I see him in other movies, I think he's Ted Kennedy.

Bruce Dern is also great as Joseph Kennedy.
