Before I went to Mongolia in 2016, I had a physical and had to receive some vaccines. The physician literally told me not to eat or approach marmots.
I am surprised that this happened, although less surprised, given that it is an ethnic minority involved. The Mongolians I encountered ate everything well-cooked. They drink milk only if it is boiled in tea, or fermented and dried. I told my guide about the popular American snack of jerky, which is essentially raw dried meat, and she seemed disgusted by the idea of eating raw meat, even dried. While there, I ate goat, sheep, cow, and camelall well cooked.
When we were in Africa we took pictures of the native girls but they're not developed. We're going back in a few years."
