** PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP WANTS TO PROTECT PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES FROM SURPRISE BILLING
**
** The seen and unseen costs of healthcare are still taking an enormous toll on millions of American families. President Donald J. Trump
**
LIFTING THE BURDEN OF SURPRISE BILLING: President Donald J. Trump is putting forward principles to address the problem of surprise billing in healthcare.
PROTECTING PATIENTS: President Trump wants to ensure patients are not taken advantage of and have the price information they need to make informed decisions.
* The Administration wants to ensure patients are not price gouged in emergency situations by out-of-network providers they could not choose.
+ In emergency situations, balance billing for amounts above the in-network allowed amount should be prohibited.
* The Administration wants to bring transparency to the confusing and opaque pricing system patients face when scheduling care.
+ Before scheduling their care, patients should be given information about whether the care providers are out of their network and what related costs that may bring.
COMMITTED TO LOWERING COSTS: Combating surprise billing will build on the numerous actions President Trump has taken to put patients in control and lower the costs they face.
* The Trump Administration expanded short-term, limited duration insurance plans, which can be far cheaper than exchange plans and better suited to peoples needs.
* The Administration expanded association health plans, making it more affordable for small businesses to provide health insurance to their employees.
* The President signed the elimination of the individual mandate penalty.
* The President launched a campaign to drive down drug prices, and recently finalized a historic new requirement that drug companies include prices in television advertisements.
* The Food and Drug Administration set new records for generic drug approvals in 2017 and 2018, saving Americans $26 billion in the first year and a half of the Trump Administration.

I agree. Mike Pence brought many voters to the Trump ticket in 2016, people who were uncertain about Trump's "lifestyle."

Hi,
It’s quiet at the White House so far this morning — 64 degrees and cloudy, not a tweet or gaggle to be found.
On the schedule so far today:
At 11:45 a.m. POTUS is set to deliver remarks on an earlier proposed effort to curb surprise billing practices, i.e., the invoices patients commonly receive after they visit out-of-network providers.
At 3:30 p.m. he is scheduled to pose for a photo with team leadership of the Boston Red Sox, the 2018 World Series Champions. Alex Cora, the team’s manager and a native of Puerto Rico, said last weekend that he would not feel comfortable attending.
At 3:45 POTUS is scheduled to host members of the Boston Red Sox on the South Lawn. Several Red Sox, including pitcher Hector Velazquez and the American league MVP Mookie Betts, have said they will not to attend.
Earlier this morning, the White House posted on its website that the president would host the Boston Red Socks. That spelling error was caught by the Boston press, and now appears to be corrected.

I thought it was very strange when Pope Benedict stepped down, never seen anything like it in my life time.
This sure explains it.
And Soros, Obama and Clinton having their fingers in it....
Well, color me not surprised.
OK Deplorables... I’m all done posting from the Press Pool. Posting mostly for posterity. In other words, the source- works for near real time printed info on the POTUS.
Thanks for all the time you spent keeping us informed, much appreciated.
Doesn't McConnell appoint all committee chairmen? If so, he has been ok with Senator Burr being against Republicans for the last two years. Calling in Trump jr should be the final straw.
He’s the first one to step down since 1294.
I do not like seeing our military men and women traveling in camo uniforms. They are ok for training or fighting where appropriate but look like sloppy pajamas elsewhere.
wow!
After everything Trump has accomplished and the good he has done, if a conservative would still not vote for him in 2020 out of concern about his lifestyle, then they have serious problems.
I hope Judicial Watch is on this.

Speaking to reporters just now @RandPaul calls for an end to the Senate intel investigation.
As weve heard from @senatemajldr: Case Closed!
I think he’s being blackmailed by his boss Warner because they claim in the Mueller report that Burr leaked to the WH.
At least that’s one theory floating around. Another distraction for the democrats.
This would just be to draw money and time away from PDJT as well as be able to attack him during the primaries.
The Republican Party is horrible. Every time I hear PDJT praise Rona McDaniel for her work as head of the Republican Party, I think that he is still in the praise-them-until-they-live-up-to-my-expectations mode. If she did such a good job, why did Republicans lose more than 40 seats in the House?

Maduro’s faction, or Guaido’s faction? I just read a slew of articles and I am a little worn down mentally. I tried tackling the 20 page letter, but need a break.

The religious organizations.
This is the first time that I have read that the politicians ruining the vigil for the STEM school students were Democrats. Why am I not surprised?
