Mooresville K9 officer shot, killed during routine traffic stop (Updated)

MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Mooresville K9 Officer Jordan Harris Sheldon, 32, was shot during a routine traffic stop on West Plaza Drive shortly after 10 p.m. on Saturday.

He was transported from the scene, but officials say he later died from his injuries. Sheldon served with the Mooresville Police Department for six years.

We were in South Carolina yesterday. When we stopped at Chick-fil-A in Rock Hill for dinner, I saw a teenaged girl with a sticker on her blouse that said “In remembrance of Officer Sheldon.” They’d probably been to the memorial.

The young lady probably clearly remembers Officer Doty...a Rock Hill officer recently killed in the line of duty.

It won't matter if 99% of men try to be good, if one "bad boy" can impregnate 100 women.

Women are the ones who decide who gets access to their baby-making equipment. They also have the total and absolute legal right to decide if a baby gets born. Thus, it makes far more sense to address the incentives the women see.

And don't say "no woman ever gets pregnant for the welfare benefits". These days, any girl qualifies for free birth control, including long-term solutions like IUDs. If a girl from a welfare family is pregnant, it is very safe to assume she wants to have a baby. Therefore, the only approach likely to actually work, involves changing the incentives and disincentives which women perceive.

My grandfather retired as a Sergeant in the early 60's and my dad retired as an Executive Lieutenant from the Detroit Police department in 1978. Neither one of them ever had to fire their service weapons.

Dad died in May of 2001, I can only imagine what his thoughts would be on the state of this country today..............As a side note, I turned him on to a local conservative talk show host named Mark Scott and Rush. Rush was always on dad's radio........
