One million prostitutes? Let’s see, approximately 75 million women in the US between 19 and 54. Let’s just say that million are all female, though we know gay prostitution is a real thing.

Still, approximately 1 in 75 of the demographic?

I think they’ve gotta be counting young women who agree to dates online just for a free meal.

Well you have to include Washington, DC. We know there are at least 535 prostitutes, but they each have staffers and lobbyists.

The article didn't specify a prostitute who was active, nor did it specify a full time prostitute.

The greater number of prostitutes (as far as total quantity of people providing sex for material gain) only work to fill a specific need, not all the time. They usually quit fairly young.

The general public immediately thinks of full time prostitutes in brothels, on the street, or working for escort agencies because those are the ones who get arrested or whom authors and journalists can find.

If you look at the total numbers then yeah the article is likely accurate - but who cares about CNN anyway?
