Personally, I don’t watch any...ANY “modern movies” and fortunately can’t confirm your observations. No HBO, etc in the house.
For the grandkids OpenDNS works pretty well although I can’t control what happens away from home. I don’t allow cell phones until high school graduation is within sight! Take that permissive parents!
We have hundreds of new movies available to us thanks to Netflix (free to us) and Amazon Prime (also free). Ever since we started using them to watch new movies we’ve experienced a new phenomenon: We find ourselves getting ten to 15 minutes into a movie and just turning it off. We never used to do that.
