A white police officer in Dallas told a police dispatcher that she shot her unarmed black neighbor in his own home, repeating 19 times on a 911 call that she mistakenly thought it was my apartment.
Amber Guyger, who is facing a murder charge in the September shooting of Botham Jean, is heard asking a dispatcher for police assistance and paramedics on the nearly six-minute recording, which was obtained late Monday by WFAA.
Im an off-duty officer, I thought I was in my apartment, Guyger, 30, frantically told the dispatcher. And I shot a guy thinking that he was, thinking it was my apartment.
You shot someone? the dispatcher replied.
Yes, I thought it was my apartment, Guyer continued. Im ----ed!

Exactly. Call for back-up. That is protocol.
Think there might be a big difference between a hotel door and one’s own apartment to which one returns to at least once a day.
My connection is impaired so search for “Botham Jean apartment door”...tons of photos showing the very bright red welcome mat at his door. Her apartment has/had nothing. Additionally, the door locks are key pad type.
She’s also said the door was ajar...all the apartment doors are self closing latching as rated fire doors.
Her story has more holes than Plugs Biden’s scalp.
All that matters is that she made it home alive.
It was no accident.
The bitch is lying through her teeth.
The door was ajar.
Selfish lady. Her main concern throughout most of the call was her prospect of losing her job and her life. Not much concern for the victim. Nuts.
I went to a “Police” quality shooting training in Portland, OR.
It was nuts.
You pretty much were expected to shoot people who were on the ground , unarmed and 15ft away from you.
Thank God this wasn’t a class for “permit to carry” or there would be lots of permit holders in prison.
Agreed. And didn’t she live above him?
I can’t access the NY Post article, but when this story broke, I thought “premeditated”.
Yep. It's possible she could have mistaken which floor she was on and walked to the wrong door but as soon as she opened the door she should have immediately recognized this wasn't her apartment. I've wondered on this case whether she stopped off for a few drinks after work.
It should be second degree murder, instead of manslaughter.
In a world inline with the founders intoxicating oneself would preclude claiming shooting someone was just a mistake.
How far we have fallen.
Not as f***ed as her victim was, but it's OK as long as no cops were hurt.
Well, in Texas, if they are in your “domicile” (unlawfully), you don’t need to establish they are a threat or anything. You are in the clear shooting them dead just for breaking and entering.
Of course, that justification disappears if it turns out not to be YOUR domicile.
I understand that and support it. But like you say kinda has to be your place. Also, cops are(supposed to be) trained to evaluate the situation and the threat level.
What I find very odd about this is there weren’t massive protests and didn’t this happen at the peak of BLM?
Why is this black man shot by a white cop almost ignored?
Yes, I thought it was my apartment, Guyer continued. Im ——ed!
Yes, she is, or certainly should be. She should have been arrested on the spot, like any “civilian” (pet peeve, in my mind only the military are not “civilians”) would have been. She got preferential treatment which may have messed up the prosecution of her.
She deserves the needle.
