At least 12 species of crabs, prawns and lobsters collected from the deep seas in West Java are new to science

and were immediately fried in chili paste

The bigger question is how do they taste fried or grilled?

If you google the name “Roman Fedortsov” you will find a huge collection of images taken by a member of a Russian deep sea fishing trawler who takes pictures of all the very strange things that get brought up from the bottom of the sea by their nets.

I’m also reminded of a story about another Russian fishing vessel whose crew caught something so alien looking that they thought it did indeed come from another planet. The captain did not want to start an interplanetary war with whatever species that they killed so he had the cook serve it up to the crew. Google “Guitar fish face”...
