I don’t particularly care for actors who think they have a legit opinion on politics, or geothermal change, or carbon emissions etc etc. Contempt for their blather is justified, and we agree on that.

It is also true that the debate on “should Xns watch.....” this or that, is actually a family discussion. Just like no one wants me to butt in with my insights on the best way for Suzy and Billy to raise their kids, so discussions between people who profess to have an “alien” set of standards to this present world are not for people who don’t share those standards. It is the same principle.

If a person is not a professing Xn, they have way bigger problems than watching skin on some HBO flick. It is unfortunate that the discussion is often reduced to “we can do this” or “we can’t do that.”

I actually thought Piper did a good job of going to the root issue. Fundamentalists are phenomenally dumb about how they approach this, sometimes, but the answer is not to regress to some “no one can judge me.. it is MY decision.”

Neither are Christian, but then again, I have no interest in non professing Christians telling me what Christian standards are.

I hope that is a bit clearer, and I apologize for being so convoluted and imprecise.

Thank you for your interaction, anyway.

Lol. My youngest of 4 is 39. The last time I sent a kid to their room Frazier was on and that wasn’t. The reason. Best wishes

[[and I also learned not to like series watching so I don’t.]]

I can’t stand them either- with the exception of gold rush- As I did prospecting for a few years- small scale- 1 person- so that show really interests me- amazing how much gold they pull out of ground in a week- I personally didn’t find much gold- as the area I’m in has very very little- but it was fun searching for it- and good excersize

No, it is absolutely not appropriate for that age group. It is very adult, particularly the first several seasons. There is nudity, full frontal nudity, simulated sex and the language can be foul. The violence can be turn the head for a few seconds type of violence. It shows medieval life or what Martin thinks medieval life was like....there are many sublime moments, heart breaking moments and is unpredictable, follows no formulas, which is part of its success, not to mention epic in scope with lots of battles, sword fights, catapults, palace intrigue, kings/queens poisoned, etc etc. It shows a brutish life led by all including the kings and queens...probably does not portray life accurately because who really knows. There is also a fantasy element (dragons and other things). The good are very good and the bad are very bad.

X is the letter in the Greek alphabet for CHI, which is the first letter in Χριστός which is translated "Christ"

The early church fathers developed a habit of writing the abbreviation of Christ as "X" ... therefore Xn is Christian if you are abbreviated. No one is quite sure who originated the practice, but it is rumored to have come from Constantine at the battle of Milvian Bridge in 312 AD. By the middle of the 5th century virtually all Xn scholars were using it.

It is not anything but an abbreviation. They also abbreviated THEOS (θεός, the word for "God") into θς, sometimes with a line over the two letters.

It's lazy and sloppy and done to minimize Christ.

You're not short of letters, you just fail to respect Jesus.

Interesting. Evidently men who burned at the stake and were persecuted heroes you and I could not hold a candle to also "failed to respect Jesus," since they did the same thing. Athanasius comes to mind.

I look forward to any other criticisms you might have based on historical ignorance coupled with self assurance that if you don't know about it, the purpose must be bad, and only you can discern it. Nice trick.

Thank you "humble"gunner.
