BS! The reason people don’t accumulate enough is because government is taking half of their ernings for their entire working lives. People are living their lives off of residual income left over after they have funded goverment.

I could have had enough to retire on by now, if it weren’t for Canadian taxation to pay for a pension plan that I won’t receive and the social state.

Instead, I expect to.ve homeless when I can no longer work.

Spot on!!! I pay an obscene amount of taxes every year. The federal government is by far my most costly dependent: a whole lot worse than my recovering addict 35 year old son!!!

And yet, some of us managed to put away a fair nest egg by not taking expensive vacations or indulging other desires for “stuff”...over careers where we started working as teens and kept on working until our early 60s...and have children that, after rocky starts in their late teens to mid 20s got their act together and have the potential to amass multiples of what we did.
Government is oppressive but personal decisions have an even bigger impact.
Of course, any excuse is a salve if one needs an excuse....
