“Same reason you can’t shoot a woodpecker or a crow in the US.”

They are not on the endangered list any more. However:

The Migratory Bird Treaty Act makes it illegal for anyone to possess a bird, egg, nest or even a feather without a wildlife license.

if human babies aren’t babies until they are 10 or so in the minds of liberals, then why is a goose embryo a goose in need of protecting?

Kid shoulda just got some spotted owl eggs instead- they make delicious omelette’s

Canada Geese have become so numerous that they are a damned nuisance in Ohio. You can’t even go for a walk in the park without stepping in their crap. I say a Canada goose egg hunt would be just the thing for Easter.

Two Canada goose eggs are worth, like, five American goose eggs?

So it was the act of “stealing” the egg that got him in trouble.

Because communities encourage putting oil on eggs to kill the embryo, thereby reducing overall geese populations and encouraging geese to migrate.

“Is it illegal to take Canadian Goose eggs?”

Sure is. They’re a Federally protected migratory waterfowl. This kid is in serious trouble.

Interesting. The lore in our goose infested area is that if you come across a nest, destroy all of the eggs, but one. If you leave one, they will hatch it. If you take them all, they'll just lay more.

I would have guessed that he was charged for taking the eggs because they had no proof that he killed the dead goose.

Not sure why Canada geese are so protected. They’re everywhere, leaving dung on every golf course from Bellingham to Palm Beach.

Goose droppings give off a gas as dangerous as DDT. It’s toxic enough to do harmful damage to human lungs. Get to Eagle Lake TX in the winter. Tens of thousands you will find there. I know this first hand.

Dumbass doesn't even know the difference between a duck and a goose......

I don't like geese since where I live here in S.E. Michigan they're all over the place. But with that said, they don't bother me so I don't bother them. And their babies are cute as can be as they follow the parents in single file when they're strolling across the highway backing up traffic..........LOL!

So the punk killed one of the parents, I don't know what the legal punishment should be but I'd be satisfied if he was taken out behind a shed and got his ass beaten up real good.......
