I don’t know how many attacks were churches, but I think all were Catholic. The other attacks were tourist hotels. I think there were 8 attacks in all in widely dispersed locations and all at the same time.
As far as I can work out, this is a summary so far:
Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo (two suicide bombers)
Cinammon Grand Hotel, Colombo (suicide bomb attack)
Kinsbury Hotel, Colombo (suicide bomb attack)
Tropical Inn Hotel, Colombo (suicide bomb attack)
St Sebastian’s Church [Catholic], Negombo (suicide bomb attack)
St Anthony’s Church/Shrine [Catholic], Colombo (i - suicide bomb attack)
(ii - van containing second bomb/explosives later triggered by security forces)
Zion Church [evangelical Lighthouse church], Batticaloa (suicide bomber here said he was waiting for a “friend” before being challenged and set off bomb)
Dematagoda Housing complex, nr Colombo (two female suicide bombers and a number of police officers killed when bombs set off as police raid apartment)
Colombo International Airport - Bomb found on approach road but defused
Colombo main bus depot - suspected bomb parts found discarded
All the targets seem to be top attractions
