Would Al Stewart’s Roads to Moscow and On the Border apply? Or is that more History Rock?
I’ve seen Al Stewart live a couple of times in recent years, and he’s still great. He also continued releasing indie albums after the majors dropped him, and they’re brilliant. Albums like “Between the Wars,” “Down in the Cellar,” “Sparks of Ancient Light” and “A Beach Full of Shells” not only contain some of his best songs ever, but better songs than I’ve heard from any younger artists in the past 20 years.
