Jon and Vangelis “Friends of Mr. Cairo” was one of my FM favourites back in 1981. Very good album as well.

Zappa is baffling until you do a tab or two of acid,
then listening to him is like downloading instructions.

One of the greatest albums ever made, in any language

Zappa didn’t do drugs though, and he’d kick you out of the band if he found out you did drugs.

But I stand by my total disinterest in lyrics

A few of my favorite lyric sets ...

If you are totally disinterested in them, what makes you think we would care?

It was just such original thinking, all that sweet green icing flowing down.

Still have Yessongs and JTTCOTE on vinyl. Saw him do Journey at Madison Square Garden sometime in the 70s (74?)

That’s true enough. But his music makes a lot more sense when you’re baked.

“Suzy? Suzy Creamcheese? What’s gotten into you?”

LOL

I love Reelin’ in the Years. I always smile when he says, “You’ve been telling me you’re a genius since you were 17. In all the time I’ve known you I still don’t know what you mean.”

Yes, A_perfect_lady, it puts a smile on my face too! :-)

I thought “Drama” was a good album even without Jon.

Tempus Fugit was Squire’s best moment.

“But I stand by my total disinterest in lyric”
was a selected quote from the poster to whom I was replying,
hence the separating horizontal line.

With a little Canadian content here, SAGA also has some very decent tunes like “Scratching the Surface”, “Wind Him Up”, “On The Loose”, and others.

MacArthur Park
+++++
OK. You got me on that one. I still remember hearing that song for the first and trying to figure out who the singer was. I finally did, of course, but not during that drive to Palm Springs.

And yes, the lyrics were worth listening to.

Will I get Zotted if I suggest
‘The MacArthur Park’ Suite?

Written by Jimmy Webb.
Both versions were good in their own way, one by Richard Harris, the other by Donna Summer.
