” ...then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord,”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This says it way better than I can...
https://www.bibleref.com/Proverbs/2/Proverbs-2-5.html
“The key passage of the book of Proverbs is found in chapter 1 verse 7. There, Solomon indicates that true knowledge begins with respect for God, and those who turn from instruction are foolish. The “then” statement found here in verse 5 gives greater depth and meaning to that concept. In the book of Proverbs, understanding is the mastery of a subject. The subject explained in this verse is the fear of the Lord. In Proverbs 1:7, we learned to put God first, to give honor and respect of the Lord priority over merely gaining knowledge for the sake of knowledge. “
~~~

I think we sometimes get lost in the translation of words or we at least don’t get the total concept. I look at the word ‘fear’ to mean ‘awe’ or ‘respect’.

All of those things, but here is what was nudging my thinking.

Of the six translations in your link, only the NLT version
says “Understand what it means TO fear the Lord.”

The other five have it as understand, or discern, THE Fear of the Lord.

We are made in his image, and we feel these things.

If the lord has any fear at all, like we do...

My guess is that it would be the Fear of losing those HE cares about.

Since He Loves us enough to let that be OUR choice.

Mastery of this subject might include seeing The Fear OF
the Lord is spoken of seemingly more here, than what it
means TO fear the Lord.

And that HIS only understandable Fear stems from
HIS Great Love for us. All of us.

HIS is the Greater Love, after all.

Would HIS not be the Greater Fear as well?

Yes, I’ve read John 4.11 too.

I hope I can choose my water wisely,
since there may be only one wise choice.

“The fear of the Lord—that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding.”

The fear of God comes when you believe in God and comprehend His power.
