I watched Episode 7 and enjoyed it. Unfortunately, some of the stuff that I read about Episode 8, combined with the Weinstein scandal, compelled me to stay home. In episode 8, one of best secondary characters in 7, fighter jock Po Dameron, inexplicably becomes a total lout, and there is a purple-haired feminist (played by Laura Dern, I think) in a key role. So I will stay home for this one too, I believe.
Carrie Fishers unexpected death, production delays, reshooting, and Rian Johnsons SW7 script (written, re-written an then re-written again) made for a very uneven TLJ. That whole 40 minute sequence with Laura Dern shouldve been left on Disneys cutting room floor. Still as a true SW fanatic...
Keep in mind that Lucasfilm FIRED its entire writing staff before A Force Awakens was made, and hired a Black leftist female, who hired ONLY female writers:
Kathleen Kennedy founded the group in 2012 when she succeeded George Lucas as president of Lucasfilm, putting Kiri Hart, a former film and TV writer, in charge of the unit. Ms. Harts first move was to make the story group entirely female, starting with Rayne Roberts and Carrie Beck. Both women had experience in film development but had also worked in other arenas Ms. Roberts in magazine publishing, and Ms. Beck with the Sundance Institute.
Hart and her "Force is Female" crew probably got mad that people liked Po for his masclinine qualities. So they destroyed his arc in The Last Jedi.
Poe Dameron was the only character in the movie who wasnt a lout, but he was relentlessly shamed for being more or less white and male by feminist tyrants in the film.
Laura Dern with purple hair. Wow. I find her to be a very awkward and overrated actress, though I think I’ve read she’s a very nice person. I put her in the same class as Shelley Duvall -— for some inexplicable reason, critics love her.
