The Old Social contracts, the old rules and undertandings do not apply to modern women, BUT men are still held to the old social contracts. Why would men consider marraige?
It is much easier for a husband to love his wife when she respects him, and likewise, a wife to respect her husband when he loves her.
The problem is that too many withhold one or the other if their spouse doesn’t hold up their end, and it becomes a downward spiral.
I’ve been paying $22K/yr alimony for over 25 years. Never going down that road again.

Women SHOULD file most of the divorces. A man is just the bad guy if he does it. I was smart enough to let it happen her way. It helps when she has her own money.
to fix this, stop treating every divorce like a domestic violence case and stop giving women the bunk of the estate.

Many of them have ZERO understanding of MEN even at the most BASIC level psychologically, but expect men to be experts in their crazy....
Men are simple base creatures for the most part, we aren’t hard to figure out, or to get along with.. but when you refuse to accept masculinity at face value, like women have done since the beginning, you wind up creating nothing but drama and resentment all the way around.
Want to be happy? Accept your husband/boyfriend for who and what he is, and who and what he is, is a guy. Pure and simple, treat him right and you’ll be amazed what he will do for you, act like a shrew and a harpie because he doesn’t act like you think he should.... You will both be miserable.

I get tired of all this “men lose everything” theme. I got divorced from a man who was violent and lazy. He “dropped” me and 2 small boys off in a state 900 miles from home with 2 suitcases and some change in my pocket (he even took my purse). He kept the house, bank account, tools of my employment, 2 vehicles, the boat and camper (all of which I had paid for.) I picked tomatoes for a whole summer to get enough money to return to my original home state to start over again. It took me 2 years to find the son of a gun in order to serve him divorce papers, as he had sold everything and moved in with whomever was his newest girlfriend at the time. The judge granted me nothing, except sole custody. Looking back, I got the best end of the deal.
OK, so I did win. The boys were worth it. Guess you’re right after all.

Having recently witnessed friends’ marriage fail because the wife decided she preferred the companionship of her personal trainer, I have done a lot of reading to figure out what went wrong. I know it is anecdotal, but every article explains how a woman’s emotional attachment works and what men need to do to nurture them. I have yet to read and article explaining to women how men look at attachment or that the expectations created by romantic comedies are unreal.
Men aren’t “afraid” of commitment by any means.....why bother with all the headaches when you can be single and still get everything you want without marriage....EVERYTHING!....and the best part is free.
They used to, they dont anymore. You have to eastern europe or asia to find women who still understand men. Just pick up any women's mag or go to the bookstore and see which types of books they are pushing. All real, real bad advice on dating and men. Not a single bit of introspection and solipsism rules the day.
