That was a nice read, thanks.

And some say America was never great.

I think libraries are too leftist.

the American Library Association is a leftist tool

It influences all libraries including that sweet little place in your town.

After a lot of thought I have decided that I no longer support public libraries. Me, the woman who grew up in libraries, who loves books, who enjoys knowledge and research. For whom the odor of opening a book brings joy.

Books are readily available both online and by purchase. Private libraries can be gathered.

The polity is broken.

I will vote to end our town’s library.

No I think that the best thing to do is to take all these things back into private clubs.

This is the first library I entered at age five in 1952 in Wasington, D.C.

The DC Central Library was the eleventh donated by Andrew Carnegie, opening in 1903, the first desegregated public building at that time in the city. Imagine that, a wealthy white man providing a free repository of knowledge to all races at that time.

For a five year old it was a wondrous reverent experience. Dimly lighted by today's standards, it remained cool because of the stone construction, an oasis in DC's hot and humid summers. I recall far more trees than appear in the post card view. The library function was moved to a new ugly horrible building designed by Mies Van der Rohe, MLK Memorial Library.

Last I heard was Apple computers offered to lease it for long term, with historic renovation of exterior and make an Apple Store, with some small public spaces fr events.

I was at the downtown LAPL (it has 8 floors) and I was on the 3rd floor men’s room and there was one homeless dude charging his cell phone with a grin on his face...in the mens room.

There are more than 2000 outlets on all 8 floors and this guy chooses the men’s room..I literally didnt turn my back on him.

I have an MLIS degree and refuse to support or join the ALA; their leftist viewpoint disgusted me years ago when I was in library school.
