Notre Dame cathedral is owned by the French state and it — along with some other historic buildings — is not insured due to cost constraints, local media reported.
Interesting. Usually the Church owns its churches. I’m going to looksee and find out how the ownership got transferred to the people. Side effect of the Revolution?
“Under a 1905 law, Notre-Dame de Paris is one of 70 churches in Paris built before that year which are owned by the French state. While the building itself is owned by the state, the Catholic Church is the designated beneficiary, having the exclusive right to use it for religious purposes in perpetuity. The archdiocese is responsible for paying the employees, for security, heating and cleaning, and for ensuring that the cathedral is open free to visitors. The archdiocese does not receive subsidies from the French state.”
I don’t know but in England a lot of the old landmarks are owned by a National Trust. Not sure about the churches though.
Yeah, the revolution took it and all the major church property. Napolean gave a lot of it back, but maintained state control. He was a proud atheist, and like Hitler, thought Islam had a lot of good qualities for running a society, especially early on, after his Egypt debacle.I don’t know the specifics on Notre Dame.
Blu, you silly goose! You’re pets will be waiting at the Rainbow Bridge which is outside of the Pearly Gates. They will greet you there, you will have a wonderful reunion and together you go thru those Gates. The Rainbow Bridge is the heaven for our fur babies til we get there to take them home!
I know! I believe my pets are with my parents waiting for me! It sounds good though! Will we ever know???? Wish I did as I have 3 olders ones getting up there and each getting sick right after the other.
