Not so. Only the very earliest churches in France --- which would not have been built before Constantine's Edict of Milan in 315, and which are now more or less either built-over or archaeological sites ----would have been 300 years before Mohammad.

St. Germain des Pres was first built to serve as the Benedictine Abbey in the 6th century. So that probably counts as oldest in Paris, and that's roughly contemorary with Muhammad. But the stone structure that stands there today is a re-build dating from around 1000 AD.

But the really epic, astounding, blazing centuries of devotion and genius and massive cathedral-building --- Notre Dame was one of many, many cathedrals built in this era --- didn't begin until the late 11th century. This was the High Middle Ages.

What she said could have been said about the Eiffel Tower. No recognition of this even as a church or as a loss for Christians. If the big mosque somewhere burned I might say “sympathies for moslems everywhere. “ I would not say “I appreciate the artwork and glad they are trying to save some of it.”
