(Reuters) - A 5-year-old boy suffered life-threatening injuries on Friday after being thrown or pushed by an apparent stranger from a third-floor balcony at Minnesota’s Mall of America, and a man who fled the scene has been charged with attempted homicide, police said.
The child was rushed to a hospital after officers and passersby provided aid at the scene, Bloomington Police Chief Jeff Potts said. His condition was not immediately known.
Shortly after the incident, police arrested a 24-year-old man inside the mall, one of the state’s leading tourist attractions, after he had fled the scene, Potts said.
The suspect, Emmanuel Deshawn Aranda, who is from the area, was charged with attempted homicide, police said in a statement.

It’s not been confirmed. Nobody is reporting that he died. I just want this rumor to stop for the family’s sake.
If the white boy survives he’ll probably be put in juvenile detention for triggering this innocent, noble minority bystander.

He’s a Chicago grown crazy, not what the unverified Twitter post says. He moved here a few years ago. His uncle, Francis Aranda, says he’s been angry and unstable since childhood. He’s simply a nutcase that shouldn’t be on the streets.

Firstly, thank you for calling me out on this. I swear to each of you that I saw it on one of my newsfeeds this morning at around 4am (I couldn’t sleep for whatever reason). I only keep reliable feeds - from Drudge (yeah, I know) to FR friendly sources. I don’t go wandering. Whatever article I read said that he was in stable condition but later died in the early morning, TODAY. I have NO idea which feed I read it on. I’m so sorry. I DO hope that I’m wrong!
