I'm not celebrating this assault in the least. It was brutal. I do not know if it was provoked or not.

I am curious about the reluctance to bring hate crime charges.

Hate crimes do happen in America. The groups most likely to be victims of hate crimes are Hasidic Jews in Brooklyn and black male crossdressers. The perps in both cases are overwhelmingly black males yet the media paints "hate crimes" as an act solely perpetrated by confederate flag-waving white Trump-voters with MAGA hats on their heads.

I'd have to disagree with you there. "Delusional pervs" are offensive by definition -- that's what makes them "pervs" -- so the bar is lower for justifying VERBAL assault on them. However, you're right in saying that as American citizens, no one has the right to beat them down simply because they find them offensive.
