A .22 >1000 fps air rifle with “destroyer” pellets will do the trick. For the varmints, that is. Granted, you might have to bury a dead varmint or several. Or, Adobo style, done right, the raccoons are actually fairly tasty, tho’ if they are not in a rural setting, I’d hesitate at that.
REALLY effective are the dog-proof coon traps - but then you still have to deal with the trapped opossum or raccoon.

I recall a news show where they interviewed this old guy. Coon dogs baying out back, him playing blues on his guitar in his run-down home. Made extra money hunting raccoons and selling their meat.
