States Attorney Kim Foxx has asked Cook County Inspector General Patrick Blanchard to review her offices handling of the Jussie Smollett case.
The request for an investigation by the countys watchdog agency comes two weeks after Foxxs office dropped all charges against the Empire actor for an alleged hoax hate crime attack, with the actor turning over $10,000 from his bond to the city and making no admission of guilt. The deal, and Foxx, have been blasted by police and prosecutors organizations, and a petitions seeking appointment of a special prosecutor to review Smolletts case will be heard by Chief Criminal Courts Judge LeRoy K. Martin Jr. next month.
Foxx has promised total access to her office to probe the Smollett case, Blanchard said Friday.
That’s right! She offers total access to her office, but she knows the I.G. will take a long time for the results of the investigation to be released to the public, IF they are, thus, as planned she remains a viable candidate throughout the 2020 election cycle.
Without the I.G. delay she’s more than likely political history. Should the I.G. be appointed, which is IMO a foregone conclusion noting whom it is, and where it is she will have cover to not discuss anything about the case under investigation, and can be free as a bird to lie like HELL about any, and all issues otherwise. IOW she will more than likely win reelection IF the I.G. is appointed to “look into the case”. If not she is as I said above “likely political history”.
