The Democrats are being played like a fiddle by the master, President Trump:
1) He purposely needles them, constantly tweeting things they loathe and consider deplorable.
2) They automatically take the opposite position out of sheer knee-jerk hatred and the need to publicly distance themselves from him.
3) Driven by emotion and “virtue signaling”, they end up embracing wildly unpopular agendas.
4) POTUS sails to re-election victory, opposed only by political morons and crazed radicals.
It’s a tactic he has been using against the Left for three years - they seem unable to resist falling right into his traps. I keep thinking surely a savvy Democrat will come along who knows better than to let President Trump frame the debate - but no.
Creepy Joe Biden tried to float a few “moderate” positions - the other Democrats ate his lunch. The crazies made him walk it back.
