Years ago a black woman and I were on the same aisle at a store and we started chitchatting. Out of the blue - without even knowing my political affiliation- she casually mentioned that Republicns were racist.
I was done. I was tired of living in the shadows and keeping my mouth shut. I informed her I was a Republican and her eyes got very wide and she closed her mouth. We had a very nice conversation about the lies they tell her to keep her on the plantation.
We left knowing each other as sisters - I informed her that I would die for her if needed as we were sisters. She just stared at me and I reminded her that as Christians we were both children of Adam and Eve.
That seemed to strike a chord and I hope she remembers the conversation as it actually happened and maybe changed her prejudices a little.
