Things definitely have changed (Yes I’m that old too)- but society has changed for the worse too- much much more angry, disrespectful- lots more drug addicts- and sue happy- police are severely hampered today- and it endangers them and bystanders as a result- It’s just a much different world we live in these days- but there still are police who show common courtesy- maybe not so much in cities, but definitely in the country- it’s the new recruits though that have no sense of humor-

Yes, that has been my experience. Funny thing, but I don’t remember seeing any of the old-time cops with shaved heads or wearing sunglasses all the time. But that’s pretty common among the younger ones.
Perhaps there should be a rule. If you’re a cop and want to shave your head, you must first pass a Dale Carnegie “How to Win Friends and Influence People” course.
