What “good cops?” Where are they?

*********

Working. Doing a job that most of us would not want to do.

[[These days the public is at great risk with almost any interaction with law enforcement.]]

Nonsense- millions of arrests every year with no bad outcome- noone hurt- noone ‘at great risk’ and everyone going home at the end of the day safe and sound- you make it sound as though nearly every arrest results in people ducking from gunfire by cops hell bent on shooting anything that moves- Do you not realize just how many arrests are made every year without incident? of the millions and millions of people arrested, only around 1000 people were shot- the vast majority of those were armed criminals- a very small percentage of those, less that 1% were unarmed and mistakes-

Many folks are conditioned by high profile cases and blanket condemnations by msm and constant anti-cop rhetoric by co phaters to think that cops killing unarmed civilians or beating the hell out of them ‘for no good reason’ is a rampant constant thing with police- nothing could be further from the truth

Good story.

It used to be: Cops would harass you if you were causing trouble. Fair enough.
Now: Cops will harass you just because they can.

It’s sad. And it’s putting a wedge between the police and the average citizen.

Re: your 12

How about the “good cop” whose immigrant somali (I don’t capitalize anything to do with saracens) “partner” murdered an Australian woman, who shot her *while in the car*, possibly causing permanent hearing damage to aforementioned “good cop?”

I’ll repeat:

Well. Looks like your attempt to smear the cops with your personal agenda didn’t go too well.

Smear? The guy they were called for was having an epileptic seizure. Do you firmly believe that the correct thing for them to have done was arrest the guy?

My sister has epilepsy. I have seen her in the postical state following a seizure. In this state she appeared to be alert and conscious but was actually thoroughly confused as to what was going on around her and even who she was. It lasted several minutes then she slowly returned to normal. That is most likely where this guy was when the police showed up.

“Postictal state is an abnormal condition that lasts for a period that begins when a seizure subsides and ends when the patient returns to baseline.”

Re: your 27

The guy’s father said he has a grand mal about once a month. It doesn’t seem too predictable if he had one in a gas station, which is unfortunately for the guy and his family.

You can’t blame the cops? Seriously? What if it was status epilepticus instead of something lasting only a minute or two? People die from multiple seizures. Why the police were sent, God only knows.

I guess the moral of the story is, always obey a cop, even if it is physically impossible for you to do so!

Even if you're blacked out while uncontrollably convulsing? Well, if it means they get to go home to their families at the end of the day...

And this is why I’ll dedicate a JBT thread to one every chance I get. The MSM doesn’t give me all that many chances. *sigh*

The fake news MSM? Dude, it's the JBTs that don't give you many chances.

"Working over" people that have done nothing wrong, like the guy in the article?

What happened in the article isn’t high-profile, but it’s still a reminder of how grossly unsuitable some people are for dealing with the public. Do you firmly believe it was a good idea to beat and arrest the guy for having a seizure?

> The guy they were called for was having an epileptic seizure. <

To which I’ll add: According to the article, the responding cop was told ahead of time that the guy was having a seizure. But for some reason the cop decided not to aid that man. The cop decided to handcuff him instead. That is indefensible.

From the article: “IMPD Officer Maurice Norris responded to the call of a man having a seizure.”

So, yeah. The cop knew ahead of time that this was a medical emergency. But why be compassionate, and helpful? Better to be tyrannical instead. Cuff ‘em and stuff ‘em.

The problem with your logic is from this very second it won't be more than a week or two at the most before we have yet another video or case where someone was killed by police under very questionable circumstances at best.

We are now seeing unarmed people shot and killed by police at an alarming rate. I don't care how many people are "arrested without incident". "arrested without incident" really means no incident that the public knows about.

We have too many laws by a hundred fold. Police have too many military weapons and too much military training. Yes the public is at risk when interacting with law enforcement, far greater risk than they should be.

[[We are now seeing unarmed people shot and killed by police at an alarming rate.]]

Alarming rate? out of millions of arrests- we see or hear about incidents once a month? 12 OR SO HIGH PROFILE INCIDENTS OR SO COMPARED TO MILLIONS OF ARRESTS, AND THAT’S ‘ALARMING’? SRRY CPS LOCK

[[ I don’t care how many people are “arrested without incident”.]]

Obviously- to hell with the vast majority of good cops and no incident arrests- it’s only the very small % of bad cases that matter? you are talking way less than 1% not many businesses manage such a small % of bad incidents - all this ‘hate the police force because of a few bad cases’ is tiring- We have thugs and gang members and terrorists and even petty criminals hopped up on drugs infesting this country of ours shooting 10’s of 1000’s of people and police every day- and we have many hundreds of 1000’s or dedicated selfless police walking these bullet riddled streets protecting us all, and all anyone can do is crap all over the police because a VERY SMALL % of cases end badly or an EVEN SMALLER % of cops are bad- enough already

Yes, it is a reminder that like any business out there- that out of 100’s of 1000’s of employees- a very small % tend to be bad- but we ALSO need reminders that the vast majority of police are selfless people who put their lives on the line every hour of every day to keep us safe- who’s spouses never know if they are going to make it home on any given evening or morning- who’s children worry about their parent being out on the mean streets dealing with drug crazed thugs that could end their lives at any moment- all year long- who’s families know that their loved ones could be lured into ambush situations and murdered in cold blood- all because they have a dedication to keeping society safe from thugs, criminals, gang members, drug dealers, terrorists- etc-

No- all police aren’t perfect=- there is a VERY SMALL % that are bad- people have no idea what police face every day in this country- and what the vast majority- of police have to deal with- and do so- year in and year out- without any controversy

Is it now against the law to have an epileptic seizure? How much force is reasonable to arrest an epileptic?

I guess according to that local force, it is illegal.
