I had a ‘67 Austin Healey 3000 Mk. III for a while. The dual exhausts made beautiful music together, if you could keep them from hitting the pavement!
Around that time, a friend had a Triumph TR-4A. It was the first car I ever drove where you sat with your legs extended instead of your feet being on the floorboard. As for sound, the Jaguar XKE always sounded like a lawn mower.
I paid $600 for the car because it had a blown engine in it. Two months later I located and purchased a ‘62 3000 engine that came complete with transmission AND 2sp overdrive!
I had owned Midgets and driven a TR3 before and so was totally unprepared for how fast the Healey’s are! Or how low to the ground, LoL
Living in the rainy Pacific Northwest wears out convertible owners and I soon sold it for a Camaro.
