The Mustang reviews.
5 Apr. 2019

Has anyone seen the movie, "The Mustang?" I have a 14, almost 15-year-old girl interested in seeing it (Horse crazy). She has seen and enjoyed "Horse Soldiers," "True Grit," (Both versions) and other movies more adult-like in their content. Is this movie appropriate for her?

No. It was good. But i was a teenage girl once and it would have disturbed me. The theme was great so it’s unfortunate.

I don’t have any daughters but my young teenage nieces enjoyed “The Man from Snowy River” and its sequel, the name I don’t remember.

Horse people don’t like it because they feel the horse was overacting. Seriously.

Why don’t you watch the movie and decide for yourself?

SeaBiscuit hands down, and Phar lap, hnds down. I would say Secretariat if you could stomach that lefty “background” story of the family who owned the horse in the movie..

Walt Disney’s movie Comanchi about an Indian pony grows into a great horse. Sorry to break this up but I’ll think of more probably. If you have youtube search “Clint Anderson”. He trains horses. There a lot of others too. They show you how to work with horses.

Sorry again. Hildago about a great horse race. This is my wife’s fault, she’s training her five year old gelding Paint.

Get her a job for the summer cleaning the manure out of horse stalls, where she is able to pay for rides out of her income, but only if she has to saddle up the steed and curry it down afterward. Then she will find out if she really likes horses.

This is very true. You either break the desire or create the monster. My wife’s 64, she cleans stalls with the best of them. We keep a Dodge Cummings’s truck hooked to a 3 horse slant load trailer. Nearly all the time.

As a youngster I read and reread the Black Stallion series. When it was made into a movie Ihad to see it. It is a wonderful movie for a young horse lover with some of the best action shots of a horse and his owner ever shot. It will bring you to tears. See it together.

Some realy old movies that may be hard to locate except in the TCM inventory are My Friend Flicka and Smokey the Cowhorse.

She might like to get into readiing Will James’ books as well as Farley’s because they were mostly about horses, some Western and some not.
