There are developers chomping at the bit to build high-rise apartments in places like Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.
They are stopped by the very same people who pretend to give a damn about the homeless: The rich, elitists who don't want apartment complexes spoiling their view of the Pacific.
Also, these so-called homeless advocacy groups are a fraud as well. Then factor in things like rent control, Section 8, and illegals, and it's created a perfect storm.
But if you don't let developers get into the market, you're going to keep having homeless people. It's classic supply and demand.
Champing at the bit as in “stamping on a human face- forever”
- George Orwell.
I have family in the area.
The homeless problem is not as much a case of the high cost of living, but rampant drug use, mild climate, and it being an “in” city to be homeless in.
Advertising free stuff helps and no drug arrests policy goes even further toward attracting scum to fill the once beautiful city; now the difference between it an a garbage dump is just a quibble away.
