Entirely correct: C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien would both have agreed with that premise (whether or not they personally enjoyed the comic book medium, or considered it well done).

Similarly, film scores are today’s classical music for the normals. Schoenberg et al deliberately destroyed tonality in officially serious music, making it unenjoyable and even unlistenable.
