Libre Office.
It's fully compatible. My co-workers here in a windows-centric office don't know that I use it exclusively. I exchange docs/spreadsheets/etc with them on a daily basis.
And it's free.

I just looked at their website. I notice a god-forsaken “ribbon” menu in one of the word processing illustrations. To quote Trump, “Not gonna happen”.

Thanks, as regards LibreOffice. I’m going to try it. Maybe I won’t feel I need to upgrade to MS Office 365.
