How many times have we here at FR lamented that "no one will ever catch these Deep State people, fugeddaboudit" ?

Maybe the one man who can actually do something about it is being told by his legal experts some variation of this: "put some real pressure on them, make them realize that someone is going to jail over this, and the weak links will start to sing a song."

And maybe PDJT said "let's do it."

I'm thinking of an analogy here: President Reagan wanted to put an end to the USSR, and his geopolitical experts told him "put unrelenting economic pressure on them by forcing them to spend themselves dry on a military arms race, and they'll pop like a balloon." Reagan said "let's do it," and the rest is history.

I thought it was very interesting when Brennan said last week "I don't know if I received bad information." I thought that was possibly a tiny crack in the dam. The statement of course leads to several interesting lines of inquiry, including "who gave you that bad information?" "why didn't you verify the information before using it to make sensational accusations against the President?"

We don't know yet whether Clapper's remarks will go anywhere, but they look to me like a hanging curveball for investigators to go further.

"One point I'd like to make ... that I don't think has come up very much before, and I'm alluding now to the President's criticism of President Obama for all that he did or didn't do before he left office with respect to the Russian meddling. If it weren't for President Obama, we might not have done the intelligence community assessment that we did that set off a whole sequence of events which are still unfolding today, notably, special counsel Mueller's investigation."

"President Obama is responsible for that, and it was he who tasked us to do that intelligence community assessment in the first place. I think it's an important point when it comes to critiquing President Obama."

I can't see how this can be ignored by the Senate investigating committees.

And then there’s this:

Newly revealed text messages between FBI paramours Peter Strzok and Lisa Page include an exchange about preparing talking points for then-FBI Director James Comey to give to President Obama, who wanted “to know everything we’re doing.”

Page wrote to Strzok on Sept. 2, 2016, about prepping Comey because “potus wants to know everything we’re doing.” According to a newly released Senate report, this text raises questions about Obama’s personal involvement in the Clinton email investigation.
