What I have noticed is that not all the providers have the sae content.
Something may be available for a while but then it goes away and it appears on another provider. SO there seems to be a sort of round-robin to any particular content Watch it while you can as it may not last.
Competition will hold prices down. A good thing and the cable TV monopoly is on its deathbed.
Cord-cutting is bound to accelerate.
I left Hulu when they lost criterion. Warner Media will be behind the latest Criterion effort. A pox on Warner, they killed the DramaFever streaming platform. Warner, like Netflix is full of chit, no $$ for them.
Philo doesnt have em and their most expensive skinny bundle is $20.
You can sign up for Kokowa. Its a streaming venture of the big three Korean broadcasters.
Consider post #18.
Production cost is fixed (spend what it takes to make a show).
Streaming is practically free.
Competing will drive prices down.
I pay $10/mo and get unlimited ad free access to nearly all music available.
Netflix does nearly the same for movies.
TV is next.
Netflix is too close to Obama glad to switch. If the price is right.
Youtube plays really well too with content sorted and the search engine very handy (with the voice activated remote control).
And, BTW, we don't use the Apple services although they are available. But we might if they are competitive with the others.
Lets hope that Apple don't remove or downgrade the competing services on the Apple TV box.
Free streaming services include Filmrise, TubiTV, PlutoTV and XUMO.
You can watch ad-supported free content on them and never pay a dime.
I gave up HBO because there was nothing good on it anymore. I also had Showtime and the only show I miss is Ray Donovan.
I’m finding good stuff on Amazon Prime. I think Amazon will be as much of a challenge to Netflix as Apple.
I’ll wait to see what Apple comes up with. From what I’ve read so far about their content, I’ve yet to be impressed.
“I will never go back to cable TV again. Cesspool. Crap. CNN.”
Your telecom or cable company must provide around 25 MB for high quality streaming.
Its a cost so that limits how many pay TV services you can sign up for.
“Apple is quality.”
If you only listen with air pods and your phone.
If provider’s get less from Apple, they’ll demand more from the other streamers.
That will be a good thing for a while, until some of the competition dies off. That’s when Apple will start raising their prices.
All of these companies now have giant packaged bundles just like cable and satellite do.
If Apple wants to be different, they need some real ala-carte plans. Other than that, they will just be a Me-Too like always.
Ditto for me. I have U-verse only because the bundled cost with internet is less that just internet.
“Streaming most content is a commodity, low price wins.”
Cellphones are a commodity ... Apple has done pretty well being anything but low price :-).
I think they’re a little late to the game, personally, but I’m not worth the amount of money Apple is worth :-) ... moreover, with their fanbase, anything is possible. We’ll know soon enough :-).
PS I still hate their stuff :-) .
The content on the big three is a la carte. You pick what movie or tv show you want to watch.
With live TV you generally must live with a smaller bundle. although some like SlingTV let you customize what you want to watch.
It's a cult. Their first commercial was in fact about themselves with all the drones in White marching to the same orders.
They should call it something cooler like “iCable TV” since that’s all these streaming services have become.
We save on shipping. Music and video is a plus.
