In UK the cabinet officials are similar to ours, but they aren’t chosen by the executive, they’re voted in by the party in power, much like the house and senate vote in their leadership positions.
So, for the cabinet to launch a coup is sort of like invoking the 25th amendment here, only there’s no element of personal betrayal, and it isn’t contingent on PM being unfit or unable to lead, it can be legitimately purely political, as it is in this case.
