Okay...so long story,

Every house I've owned had a crawl space...under the house.

I few years...ago....I was hearing a spraying like noise..about 60 feet from the crawl space entry. I knew what it was....it was a small flipping water leak. I tried to ignore it...

Well....I know how to plumb. My Dad taught me....So I crawl over and under..all types of stuff.....Get to the leak.....figure out what I need.

Of course by this time...I'm a dirty mess...I go to local hardware store...The owner knows me..and starts laughing. Ha!!

I tell him what I need....and he say's "You ever used SharkBite fittings?" HUH!!???? I'd never heard of them....He showed me some...and you use this piping called PEX...and I thought well okay....I'll do it.

Got what I needed...crawled under house...and in under 20 minutes...I was done. I laid there..thinking this was too easy. Crawled back out...and turned water on. No leak!!!!

Next day it's leaking!!!! E^#$&$%*%^*!!!!@!@

Went back to hardware store...asked what was the fail rate on these fittings....he said less than 2%,,and they were plumbing whole homes with this stuff....Asked me..if I was sure I clicked them tight.

So went back under....the house...and re-clicked all the fittings...and damned if one of them re-"clicked"....and the leak was fixed...and to this day..it's fixed.

BUT...two days after this...I'm in the shower...and feel a bump near my groin.

A day later it hurts and it's angry. Third day it's red like a little volcano on my groin.

I'm in the Healthcare biz....And I don't like Doctors...hehe!!....so I'm thinking it's a spider bite...But I don't have a fever..and I just ice it...and take Tylenol for the pain.

I was thinking I'm going to rot off my groin parts....

But maybe 4 days into it...it popped. Had a pencil eraser sized hole..

So yeah....house's have crawl spaces..!!

Good ol’ fiddleback, no doubt. Had a patient once who had a fiddleback bite, but thought it was some sort of abcess. Went to the local ER for an unrelated condition, and asked the doc to lance the “abcess” under her arm, because it was so painful. Well, the idiot complied. Patient ended up on a ventilator with septic shock. Landing a fiddleback spider bite spreads the toxin throughout the body. Both my husband and I have had them, with resulting very minor tissue damage; they leave a little crater, since they’re destructive to the flesh.
