Color me disappointed.

Shaquille has always presented himself well as a TV basketball analyst and now he has the... the, frankly the stupidity to go get mixed up with Sheriff Israel and his bumbling crew of enablers? (Being polite here)

Bad move, Shaquille. You just alienated a lot of people.

In early January, Sheriff Israel was suspended from office by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and save for possible reinstatement after a pending trial by the Florida Senate, Israel is out of office permanently. The new Sheriff for Broward County appointed by Gov. DeSantis is Gregory Tony, a Black Philadelphia native who played football at FSU and who then took up law enforcement as a profession in South Florida.

Shaq seems a decent, well-meaning sort and may make a good deputy sheriff. If nothing else, he could do much to improve the ever-strained relationship between law enforcement and the Black community. I count the recruitment of Shaq in his new role as a sign that Sheriff Tony is on the right track, with kudos to Gov. DeSantis for appointing him.
